August Blog: Summit Express Clinics - Taking Care of You When You Need It Most

Summer weather means more outdoor sports and activities on weekends and evenings, which can also mean minor injuries such as strains, sprains and cuts.  Summit Express Clinics are open during these times to treat patients when their primary care physician’s office is closed. The three urgent care clinics also welcome walk-in patients, whether or not they are Summit patients.

The Express Clinics are staffed by physicians and nurse practitioners and offer treatment, laboratory and X-ray services seven days a week. Three locations serve Knox County: Farragut, Deane Hill (Bearden) and Fountain City.

The clinics are equipped to treat most minor injuries or illnesses:

  • Allergies, colds and flu.
  • Coughs, bronchitis and sinus infections.
  • Fevers.
  • Rashes and bites.
  • Sprains, strains and cuts.

If your primary care physician is part of Summit Medical Group, it’s always a good idea to contact the practice’s “on call” physician first so he/she can determine the best course of action. For serious or life-threatening emergencies, always proceed to the nearest emergency room or call 911.

Treatment records of Summit patients automatically go to their Summit Medical Group physician through the secure Electronic Medical Records system.

On holidays, be sure to check the Express Clinic hours here.
